Dealing With Risk and Fear

When we tell our life story, we usually convey an image of strength and confidence. But don't be fooled. We're as fearful of the unknown as anyone else. If you think we weren't scared when we packed up and moved to the Caribbean, think again. And if you think we weren't afraid of looking foolish when we wrote our first book, you're wrong. And can you imagine how scared we were when we had to recall thousands of bottles of Sesame Seed Dressing from stores all over the country because of yeast contamination? Talk about fear. We had visions of losing everything. "This is it," we thought. "It's over."

But here we are to tell the tale. And we're here to tell you that fear can be managed and minimized. When we first learned that we had to pull our Sesame Seed Dressing off the shelves, we were standing in our booth at the Fancy Food Show in Washington D.C. talking to the buyer from Macy's: Suddenly, ka-pow! We were instructed to call all of our accounts and tell them to carefully dispose of the dressing [Read more]

Ways to Increase Computer Speed

While an old computer will never operate at the same speed as a newer one, you can help your computer stay as "young & healthy" as possible.

Firstly, make disk cleanup. Whenever you "surf the internet", open attachments, delete files, your computer saves a record of your activity. Many of these files are harmless, and individually are very small. But if you spend a lot of time on your computer, before long you'll take up enough space to slow your computer down a bit. Disk Cleanup is a Windows utility that helps keep unused and unwanted files from taking up extra storage space on your computer. You can think of it as "spring cleaning" for your computer.

Next, defragment your hard disk. Basically, defragmenting is putting files back where they belong. With the files in the proper order, your computer will run more efficiently. It's simple to do. You just need to plan ahead, because if you have a lot of "stuff" on your computer, it could take a while. And it's best not to use your computer while defragmenting.

Try to remove spyware & adware. If you've ever had spyware or adware on your computer, you know how frustrating it can be - strange things happening, your homepage changing, inappropriate popups, unfamiliar icons... [Read more]

Safety Concerns to Watch Out When You Travel

Ever since the 9/11 attacks, a lot of people have been more conscious about travel insurances. Hijacking is covered by it even though the said cover will only be enjoyed by the policyholder AFTER he/she survives the feat.Although some hijackings had bad results, there are some high profile hijackings that were controlled by the authorities.

So, what will your travel insurance cover if this mishap will happen to you? Well, if the hijackers order the pilot to land the plane on an isolated island or another place perhaps and they let you go, lose all your luggage in the process and then get sick or PTSD in the long run, the travel insurance will definitely cover the loss of your luggage and medical treatment.

World Nomads claims that they offer at least 50% off travel agent prices. True! Since for a six month coverage, it’ll only cost you about $240.00. Plus, they’ve got great services in their website. You can download an mp3 guide of the major languages of the world (for conversation purposes) and put it in your iPod! Are there any deals sweeter than this? [Read more]
