Time To Start Your Engines

Gentlemen Start Your Engines!

The most important thing about staying in shape is to eat healthy. Even if you're not big on running, or lifting weights, bring your bike to a local park, or walk your dog. Just staying active will help your body to feel younger, and you'll be surprised how much stamina you have after a few weeks of the routine. Play volleyball, basketball, or any other recreational sport with friends, or even family. Working out doesn't need to be a chore, you can make it enjoyable.

Exercise! Splurging once in a while on a Big Mac is okay, but fast food isn't the direction you want to go. Eat your meals in regular proportions, not super sized, and eat things that are good for you. Not all health food is bland and tasteless- look around until you find what you like. Not only will you look better, but your body will also feel more energized.

Stress can cause major health issues such as cardiovascular disease, and depression. Keep your stress to a bare minimum. Managing stress may not seem very important, but it's a vital step to maintaining a healthy life-style. Try not to get too overwhelmed with work, money, or family situations. Take a day off, or do something to take your mind off of your personal problems. By living a stress-free life, you'll not only be healthier, but much happier and relaxed.

How to add enjoyable power to your workout

Agility is what lets my friend run rings around us, leaping from rock to rock along the Pedernales River in Texas. Agility is what you see in top athletes who make great skill look effortless. Agility is what helps a ballet dancer make it look effortless. Agility is how Jackie Chan can still do martial arts even while he is rolling over tables, bouncing off walls, leaping between the rungs of ladders.

Some sports and fitness activities promote agility more than others. For me, martial arts gave me agility. I've been doing Kung Fu for 25 years, and martial arts in general for almost 30. I have to be able to adapt to what an opponent is doing quickly and perfectly. I have to seize the advantage, gain and maintain dynamic control. I have to stay balanced and graceful even while moving rapidly and adjusting to the changing dynamics of sparring.

If you're not doing something to develop agility, today is a good day to start. You'll be amazed at the difference increased agility will make in feeling physically fit. Before long you'll move with the grace of a cat, you'll bound like a gazelle.

The Power of Fear in a Relationship

Why do we keep carrying around that fear? Very simple - many times we don’t know any better, and other times we are just afraid to be vulnerable, or to allow ourselves to open up. That fear can only bring unhappiness in the end.
Why have we allowed ourselves to be stuck in that relationship for so long? What is it that created this fear in us? Why have we allowed it to go that far in the first place? Asking that, and many other good questions that need to be addressed until we click in with the answer. Do not disqualify any answer because that is what most of us do in the first place. Our intuition seems to be the last thing we trust. Just learn to trust that inner voice of yours.

The Myths About Coffee

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. It stands to reason that people need to take action to reduce their chances of it occurring. It is scary when you read that drinking coffee may be a factor in causing it then. Yet there are simply too many other factors that have to be considered as well. Drinking coffee can't alone be held accountable for it.

Some individuals have decided to drink decaffeinated coffee in order to reduce the caffeine intake the have each day. That was all good and well for them until reports came in that decaffeinated coffee was linked to high cholesterol. It seems that coffee drinkers out there just can win even when they are trying to make good choices.

The issue of obesity is definitely a concern in our society though. This is one area where coffee often does have a very bad reputation. The days of plain old coffee have gone out the window in many places. Coffee shops all over the place offer you a choice of many flavored drinks. Yet the calories you will get from the may astonish you. If you consume these types of drinks daily you may notice you are putting on a few pounds. You may be wondering why if you haven't changed your eating habits.
